A Letter from the President

 Janene Kubit

At the May lunch we enjoyed a tasty meal and information that opened our eyes about health care. Thank you to Fred DeGrandis, CEO of Fairview Hospital, and Janice Murphy, President of Fairview and Lakewood Hospitals, for keeping us informed of how the new health bill will affect the hospitals, patients, and our businesses.

The Chamber is fortunate to provide you with joint luncheons and Business After Hours with 3 to 4 other chambers from the local areas.  So far we have been welcomed to Famous Dave’s, Harry Buffalo’s, and Houlihan’s. These opportunities provide large numbers of local businesses to network with and great food to enjoy.

At the end of May, Fairview Park schools and the city of Fairview Park held a realtors conference with over 50 realtors.  I attended this event for you, to help promote the Chamber and your business. Some businesses gave me literature, brochures, and copies of the Plain Dealer Guide that listed all Chamber members.  All information was passed out to the realtors.

Another combined event was with the Rotary.  The Chamber golf outing at Bob-O-Links on June 2 had a wonderful turn out.  Thank you to all who participated and sponsored this successful event.

Your next opportunity to get your business name and face out there will be Summerfest, July 16, 17 & 18. Plan on joining the Chamber at 6 P.M. on the 16th to pass out candy in the parade. Throughout the weekend we will once again share a tent with Fairview Park schools, thanks to Brion Deitsch.  We will have a list of all the current Chamber members, and if you donate an hour or two of your time to be at the booth, you can pass out your literature or post a sign of your business.  We are doing this in an effort to get your face out to the public!  We appreciate you showing your support to the Chamber, the community, and to your business.

I look forward to seeing everyone at Summerfest, Business After Hours and our next lunch at HCR Manorcare on September 8, 2010.
